Create accommodation types and units

An accommodation type serves as the foundation for your holiday park setup. It is a subcategory that groups similar accommodations at a single location based on common features. This grouping facilitates management of pricing, availability, and rentability. Accommodation types define the specific units that customers can book, such as a 6-person bungalow, a 4-bedroom chalet, a camping pitch, or a studio apartment.

An accommodation kind is a category of accommodations based on the type of lodging, such as camping pitches or chalets. This categorisation is used across all locations and helps you filter accommodations in Web Manager or Reservation Manager when searching for a specific kind. Every accommodation type you create belongs to a predefined list of accommodation kinds.

Only the accommodation types that allow for setting rules at a higher hierarchical level may be included in the tree structure.

Create a parent

You can use a parent type to group accommodation types. Parent types act as folders rather than bookable accommodations. For example, you might create Apartments as a parent and add a 4-pers apartment as its child.

To create a parent accommodation type:

1. Navigate to Content Manager and select the Accommodation types menu item.
2. Click Create accommodation type.
3. Select New parent accommodation type.
4. Select the location where you want to add the parent type. If a location filter is active in your accommodation type screen, the location is pre-filled and cannot be changed.
5. Select the relevant accommodation kind.
6. Select the parent accommodation type to which it belongs. If you are creating the top parent level, select the root level accommodation type.
7. Enter the Name and Code of the parent accommodation type, and provide a Short description.
8. Provide the check-in and check-out times.
9. Click Create accommodation type.

Create an accommodation type and units

Use this option to create accommodation types, such as 4-pers apartment or 6-pers chalet. These are the categories customers can reserve. Units (for example, apartment 101–103) are added separately afterwards.

To create an accommodation type:

1. Navigate to Content Manager and select the Accommodation types menu item.
2. Click Create accommodation type.
3. Select New accommodation type with units.
4. Select the Location where this accommodation type is present.
5. Select the Parent accommodation type under which this type belongs.
6. Choose the Accommodation kind.
7. Enter the Name and Code of the accommodation type, and provide a Short description.
8. Provide the Check-in and Check-out times.
9. Specify the Number of units you want to create for this accommodation type.
10. Specify if you want to create owner/work order accommodation types linked to the type you are creating.
11. Auto-generate unit names toggle:
    1. If enabled, provide a prefix, and the unit names will be auto-generated.
    2. If disabled, provide unit names in the field (separated by commas).
12. Generate unit codes:
    1. If enabled, provide a prefix, and the unit codes will be auto-generated.
    2. If disabled, provide unit codes in the field (separated by commas).
13. Click Create accommodation type.

Create an accommodation type with unit quantity

Use this option when managing accommodation types without creating individual units, specifying only the quantity available. This is commonly used for selling inventory from a location managed by a third party.

To create an accommodation type with unit quantity:

1. Navigate to Content Manager and select the Accommodation types menu item.
2. Click Create accommodation type.
3. Select New accommodation type with units.
4. Select the location where you want to add the type.
5. Select the parent accommodation type under which this type belongs.
6. Choose the accommodation kind.
7. Enter the Name and Code of the accommodation type, and provide a Short description.
8. Provide the Check-in and Check-out times.
9. Specify the Number of units you want to create for this accommodation type.
10. Click Create accommodation type.
