Optional add-ons are products or services that guests can add to their reservation. These add-ons can be added by call center or front desk employees via Reservation Manager, or guests can book them themselves during the reservation process or later through the guest portal.

Examples include a high chair, an extra set of towels, or a late check-out.

Inheritance

Maxxton utilises data inheritance, which allows configurations applied to a higher-level parent in the hierarchy to be automatically inherited by the underlying resources.

For example, when an add-on is added to an accommodation type, it is automatically associated with all the underlying units due to inheritance.

Create a new link

You can link optional add-ons in three ways, depending on your use case:

  • Single or multiple add-ons to a single accommodation type: from the accommodation type detail page.
  • Single add-on to multiple accommodation types: from the add-on detail page.
  • Multiple add-ons to multiple accommodation types: via batch update.

Link via accommodation type

  1. Navigate to Content Manager, select the Accommodation types menu item and open the required accommodation type.
  2. Click the Add-ons card, and select the Additional add-ons tab.
  3. Click the Link additional bookable add-on.
  4. Select the add-ons you want to link. Make sure the correct location is selected (top left).
  5. Review the bookable settings (quantity, period, bookable on) and make changes if needed.
  6. Review the overview and click the Link add-on.

Link from an add-on

  1. Navigate to Content Manager, select the Add-ons menu item and open the required add-on.
  2. Click the Linked accommodation types card, and select the Additional add-ons tab.
  3. Click Link accommodation types.
  4. Select the accommodation types you want to link. Make sure the correct location is selected (top left).
  5. Review the bookable settings (quantity, period, bookable on) and make changes if needed.
  6. Review the overview and click Link accommodation types.

Link via batch update

Warning

Batch update offers less flexibility in settings. Use caution when applying changes across locations.

  1. Navigate to Content Manager, select the Batch updates menu item.
  2. Click New batch update.
  3. Choose whether to adjust accommodation types or add-ons. Select either of the tabs below from the left side panel:
    1. Accommodation type
    2. Add-ons
  4. Select on the right side panel which accommodation types/add-ons you want to update. Click Next step.
  5. Select Link add-ons/Link accommodation types as per your selection in the previous step.
  6. Follow the same steps to link accommodation type to add-on or vice versa, as we did in the previous sections.
  7. Click on Next step to proceed with the Batch update process.

Tip

Use the available linking settings to keep your configuration clear and consistent. Not sure what works best? Contact Maxxton Support for advice.

Additional configuration

When linking an add-on as optional, you can set the following options:

  1. Mark as favourite: makes the add-on appear as a favourite in Reservation Manager and Front Office Manager.
  2. Use in the price comparison: decide if the add-on should appear in price comparison tools.
  3. Bookable on: define where the add-on can be booked.
  4. Maximum bookable quantity in total: limit the total number of times this add-on can be booked.
  5. Maximum bookable quantity per unit per reservation: limit the number of times the add-on can be booked per unit.
  6. Maximum bookable quantity per bookable period: limit the number of times the add-on can be booked in a specific time period.

Unlink or adjust optional add-ons

If a link is incorrect or no longer required, you can either unlink or adjust it at any time.

Unlink an optional add-on

  1. Navigate to the Content Manager, select the Add-ons menu item and open the required add-on.
  2. Select the add-on.
  3. Select the Linked accommodation types card.
  4. Select the accommodation type(s) you want to unlink.
  5. Click Unlink accommodation types.

The add-on is no longer bookable for the selected accommodation type(s). Existing reservations will remain unaffected.

You can also unlink from the Accommodation type menu item. Both methods give the same result.

Adjust the link

Navigate to the Content Manager, select the Add-ons menu item and open the required add-on.

Adjust the required fields.

If the linking between the optional add-on and accommodation type is incorrect or no longer required, this can be changed at any time. You can either unlink or adjust the linking via Content Manager.

Tip

You can also unlink or adjust optional add-ons via Content Manager – Batch updates.
