Mandatory add-ons are automatically added to reservations during the booking process, some examples are:

  • Deposits
  • Service costs
  • Tourist tax

Whether the add-on is mandatory on a reservation depends on the accommodation type which was selected by your customer. Therefor, the add-ons need to be linked to (parent) accommodation types. Child accommodation types inherit the settings of the linked add-ons of their parents.

In the below example of an accommodation hierarchy, if a deposit is the same across all Chalets, you can link the add-on to the parent Chalet, and it will automatically be applied as a mandatory add-on for all the Chalet accommodation types below.

Create a new link

You can link mandatory add-ons in three ways, depending on your use case:

  • Single or multiple add-ons to a single accommodation type: from the accommodation type detail page.
  • Single add-on to multiple accommodation types: from the add-on detail page.
  • Multiple add-ons to multiple accommodation types: via batch update (limited flexibility).

Link from the accommodation type detail page

  1. Navigate to the Content Manager, select the Accommodation types menu item and open the required accommodation type.
  2. Click the Add-ons card, and the Mandatory add-ons tab is displayed.
  3. Click the Link mandatory add-on.
  4. Select the add-ons you want to link. Make sure the correct location is selected (top left).
  5. Select the rate types where the linking applies.
  6. Select the book and stay dates where the linking applies.
  7. Select the bill settings.
  8. Review the settings and make changes if needed.
  9. Review the overview and click the Link add-on.

Link from an add-on detail page

  1. Navigate to the Content Manager, select the Add-ons menu item and open the required add-on.
  2. Click the Linked accommodation types card, and the Mandatory add-ons tab is displayed.
  3. Click Link accommodation types.
  4. Select the accommodation types you want to link. Make sure the correct location is selected (top left).
  5. Select the rate types where the linking applies.
  6. Select the book and stay dates where the linking applies.
  7. Select the bill settings.
  8. Review the settings and make changes if needed.
  9. Review the overview and click Link accommodation types.

Link via batch update

Warning

Batch update offers less flexibility in settings. Use caution when applying changes across locations. Service add-ons like tourist tax are safer than inventory add-ons like towels.

  1. Navigate to the Content Manager, select the Batch updates menu item.
  2. Click New batch update.
  3. Choose whether to adjust accommodation types or add-ons. Select either of the tabs below from the left side panel:
  4. Accommodation type
  5. Add-ons
  6. Select on the right side panel which accommodation types/add-ons you want to update. Click Next step.
  7. Select Link add-ons/Link accommodation types as per your selection in the previous step.
  8. Follow the same steps to link accommodation type to add-on or vice versa, as we did in the previous sections.
  9. Click on Next step to proceed with the Batch update process.

Edit an link

You can edit links from either the add-on or the accommodation type.

  1. Navigate to the Content Manager.
  2. Go to the add-on or accommodation type.
  3. Click the link row to open the details.
  4. Edit the required fields.

Note

Editing links can affect existing reservations. Proceed with care.

End a link

If you no longer want a link to apply, adjust the book or stay dates. This prevents changes to existing reservations.

Unlinking is possible but may cause issues if done carelessly. Adjusting the dates is the safer option.
